"The Road to Wigan Pier" was created with the invitation that your editor does to George Orwell to conduct a research on the lives of the working class in northern England (an area of heavy industrialization and a well developed mining). Orwell's travels there and in "The Road to Wigan Pier" collect, describe and think about the experiences of this journey of seven months in the north. In it are listed and described from life in pensions, to working in the mine, not to mention working conditions, housing, food, the consequences of unemployment, socialism, the arrival of fascism ... Towards the end of Orwell's work gives free rein to their thoughts and explains his theories of social organization, class struggle and workers' movements.
